Deconstruction of a Magazine Cover 1 of 3

Lastly, i then decided to deconstruct 3 magazine covers because i have to design one myself. By doing this i get a vast variety of them so i know there techniques well by analyzing them thoroughly.

  • The layout is very colourful and has very bright colours such as blue, pink yellow and red which you don't usually see on other magazines with other genres.
  • The main image is of Cheryl Cole wearing geeky clothes which could imply the style of text inside is fit to the target audience, younger generation.
  • Cheryl Cole is using direct address by looking into the camera. This is a form of interaction as the audience may feel connected with the image of the front cover as she is giving you eye contact.
  • Cheryl Cole is the main focus on the front cover and this will attract a lot of peoples attention because she is a role model to many.
  • Cheryl Cole supports the 'Male Gaze' because the audience, teenagers, look at her hoping to be like her as she is again a role model.
  • There are many buzz words such as 'Exclusive'  which catches our attention almost immediately because it makes us feel very involved like we are one of the first ones to here about the gossip.
  • Lastly, the masthead is a a chunky, bold font which catches your eye and informal so it reaches out to the young audience. It is a pink font because the magazine is mainly aimed at the female gender and the colour pink is usually associated with the stereotype of the girly teenager.
