Deconstruction of a Double-Page Spread 2 of 3

  • Firstly,  in this double-page spread it contains a large headline saying 'NICKI MINAJ' which easily stands out compared to any other text on the two pages. This completely grabs your attention of the reader when observing the magazine and as it has celebrity endorsement and links to that, the reader should be interested. The color choice is pink so it will be more fitted to the female audience because the celebrity on this page is also a female therefore it both links to fitting best with its target audience.
  • The image involves someone who is very popular and well known to the target audience and this will make the magazine sell more. The striking image reassures what the text is about in a visual form. She is giving direct address which is very effective as it makes you, the reader, feel involved and included within the article. Moreover, she is wearing very distinct clothes, bright pink lipstick and wacky jewelry which all helps making the page eye-catching.
  • The overall appearance is very bright and looks appealing and catches your eye out almost immediately. When looking at it, it makes you feel happy and brings enthusiasm towards yourself.
  • Her clothing is a zebra printed dress which could suggest that it she has an appreciation of animals which her fans, young generation, would also have.
  • The background is very simple and plain with it being a light shade of pink. Most text is black on top so it makes it very easy to read the text. Also the background being pink links with Nicki as this is also known to be one of her favorite colours so her fans would recognize this and appeal to it also.
  • The text ' The Gospel According To' is a very feminine font and would appeal to the reader as the vast majority of Nicki's fans would be female.
  • A lot of space without text on this double-page spread which makes it look simple and not heavy going which the younger generation will like.
  • The makeup she is wearing matches the colour scheme of the magazine.
  • Lastly, there is a pull quote where it has been pulled out of an interview to attract readers attention to carry on reading to find out the meaning behind the quote which is very effective and makes them engaged.
